What is CIPCAL 500mg?
- CIPCAL contains Calcium carbonate and Cholecalciferol
- Cipcal 500 tablet contains a combination of calcium and vitamin D3 (also known as cholecalciferol/colecalciferol). It is used to treat vitamin D and calcium deficiency. It is used for conditions such as osteoporosis and helps in maintaining healthy bones and teeth. This medicine should not be consumed more than the quantity prescribed by your doctor. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from before starting Cipcal 500 tablet. Talk to your doctor regarding any other medications or supplements and especially, if you are using steroids, medicines used to treat heart disorders, medicines used for thyroid disorders, antacids and certain antibiotics. These medicines may interfere with the effect of this medicine.

It is used
- For maintaining healthy bones and teeth
- To maintain levels of the vitamin D3 in your body
- To treat and prevent calcium deficiency
- To treat certain bone conditions such as osteoporosis
- In patients undergoing kidney dialysis to remove excess phosphate from the blood
Warning & Precautions
Talk to Doctor
Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:
- Are allergic to calcium carbonate, vitamin D3 or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Have higher than normal levels of calcium in your blood
- Have severe kidney failure
- Have osteoporosis (thinning of the bones) due to long periods of inactivity, such as long-term bed rest
- Have sarcoidosis (inflammation that produces lumps of cells in various organs in the body)
Pregnancy & Breast Feeding
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine
Interactions
Tell your doctor, if you are taking:
- Calcium supplements or antacids for indigestion
- Digoxin, diuretics or corticosteroids
- Thyroxine, bisphosphonates, iron or fluoride medicines, tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics
Directions & For Use
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you
If you take more CIPCAL
- If you take more of this medicine contact your doctor immediately
If you forget to take CIPCAL
- If you forget to take CIPCAL take them as soon as possible and then continue to take them as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten dose
If you stop taking CIPCAL
- Do not stop taking this medicine. Always talk to your doctor before you stop taking this medicine
Side Effects
Serious
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- Allergic reactions marked by itching, wheezing, rash, swelling of the tongue or throat
Rare
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
- Constipation, wind, feeling sick, stomach ache, diarrhoea
- Skin rash
- Hypercalcaemia (too much calcium in your blood) or hypercalciuria (too much calcium in your urine)

- Keep this medicine out of reach of children
- Store at room temperature (15-25ºC)
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
